Art History Student Receives PURE Award

Fourth-year art history major, Leighton Fenske, has been awarded a 2018 Program for Undergraduate Research Experience (PURE) Award. PURE Awards provide resources to enable undergraduate students to conduct research within their respective fields. Fenske has previously served as an undergraduate research assistant to Dr. Anuradha Gobin in the Department of Art.

He will be using his PURE award for travel to Italy to examine sculptures by Ercole Ferrata, Giuseppe Mazzuoli, and Lorenzo Ottoni. This research trip will enable an in-situ exploration of the relationship between Italian Baroque sculpture and religious spaces. He will be conducting this research under the supervision of Dr. Gobin.
