Profile

After completing a dissertation on Le Corbusier at the University of Toronto, he joined the staff of the Art Department of the University of Calgary, where his main teaching responsibilities are in the subjects of 19th-century art and architecture, 20th-century architectural history. Current scholarly interests include modernist architectural photography (particularly conceptions of gender), monastic architecture and religious architecture more generally, as well as the international Arts and Crafts. Dr. Simmins retired from the University of Calgary in 2013.
